This is us
Professional, passionate and working together in a personal way: that is the strength of De Beer. Our accounting and tax consultancy firm has been operating with this vision since 1952. Today, some 85 employees work from two offices for clients in the Netherlands and abroad. Times have changed, but our foundation is still rock-solid and current. Because a good advisor still really wants and needs to know what concerns his clients. And colleagues only form the best team if they know, use and appreciate each other’s qualities.
Professional
We understand our business and know exactly what role to assume, regardless of the issue or context. We are proactive in our approach and confidentiality is the foundation of all our relationships.
Passion
We love our work and go through fire for good results. Our clients are the second source of inspiration. Their drive and entrepreneurial spirit drive us to do excellent work.
Personal
Getting results as a team is much more fun than going it alone. Those who feel good, perform better. This is why we see it as a shared responsibility to have fun. With each other and at work.
Vision of our partners
Hans Belterman
Hans Belterman was born in Tilburg and still lives there. He came on board at De Beer in 1995. Hans is intensely involved with his clients and colleagues. To replenish his energy supply, he enjoys going into nature to mountain bike, a wonderful way to combine relaxation and exertion.
“As an AA accountant, I am an all-round financial advisor to an entrepreneur, not a role to be taken lightly. I am rightly expected to be aware of laws and regulations in the field of accountancy work but also to be familiar with, for example, automation possibilities and with business economic, fiscal and administrative developments that are important for the entrepreneur. Passion for the profession but certainly also a professionally organized organization with expert people ensure that you can continue to meet these requirements. A considerable part of my time is spent in direct contact with clients and coaching colleagues. A sounding board advisory role in which I feel at home.”
Erik van der Steen
For Erik, no mountain is too high. He lives with his partner and two children in Berkel-Enschot and does not shy away from a complex challenge.
“I joined De Beer in the summer of 2020, as a tax partner. Before that, I worked at another consulting firm for eighteen years. I advise many family businesses and high net worth families. My work is nicely all-round. Non-tax issues are also discussed. If necessary, we can go in-depth. I like that challenge: making complex (tax) topics manageable for our clients.”
“Speaking of challenges: I like to be on my racing bike. Not just in the Tilburg region. I don’t shy away from a bit more altitude difference either. I once reached the top of Mont Ventoux three times in one day. At De Beer we also deliver top performances. I get a lot of energy from booking those achievements together with a team of professional and enthusiastic colleagues!”
Jan-Pieter Gommers
Jan-Pieter Gommers lives in Helvoirt and has worked at De Beer since 2011. In a figurative sense he is a real bridge builder: like no other he makes sure everyone is on the same page. With his positive-critical attitude, Jan-Pieter knows how to open eyes and gain new insights.
“My specialties? I am very active in the automotive industry. I also act as a confidential advisor to a number of large family businesses. Many different interests play a role there. Emotion also plays a role within such companies. I know how to deal with that. In addition to being a chartered accountant, I am also a chartered valuator, I deal with valuing companies and I manage the corporate finance practice within our firm.”
“We have a nice and diverse team with nice and capable people. And a client portfolio you can say hello to. From working with all these people – and looking for solutions together – I get a lot of energy. Yes, you could say that my work makes me happy!”
Wil Vennix
Wil Vennix from Diessen excels not only with numbers, but also with letters: for years he had a tax column in the Brabants Dagblad, among other publications. He sets the bar high, for himself and his tax department.
“I started as a writing tax specialist after my studies, but I missed the practice. I became a tax consultant, starting in 1999 at De Beer, from 2001 as a partner. Besides my work for our broad and varied client base, I have always remained active in the tax world: as a newspaper columnist, author and editor for tax journals, president of our professional organization and speaker/day chairman. In doing so, I advocate for the tax interests of small and medium-sized businesses and family businesses, because they are still sometimes in danger of being snowed under in The Hague.”
“At De Beer I have built up a nice tax department, with expert colleagues who – like me – are very involved in the ups and downs of our clients. We set the bar high in terms of quality and are not easily satisfied. We have an excellent relationship with the Tax Department, but if necessary we certainly do not shy away from challenging positions that we believe are incorrect.”
Twan Maton
Twan Maton became a partner of De Beer in 2015 and has lived all his life in the green pearl of Brabant: Oisterwijk. However, he does not like hidden gems: give Twan openness and clarity and you will get something beautiful in return.
“I had my own accounting firm for a long time. Joining De Beer seemed like a good strategic move. Moreover, it suited my ambitions. I work here for very different SMEs: from the baker on the corner to the wholesaler with a turnover of 20 million euros. And I deal a lot with automation; the smarter exchange of data with our clients.”
“My credo is simple: I am honest with you and you are honest with me. No hidden agendas, a deal is a deal. I strive for an equal relationship with our clients. No one-way traffic, but good cooperation and intensive contact.”
Olaf Huls
Olaf Huls lives in the beautiful city of Hilvarenbeek. He has been a partner at De Beer since 2012. With his knowledge and experience, he is the perfect sparring partner for every SME.
“Some executive colleagues are strongly oriented to a particular industry, but that does not apply to me. I perform my accounting work on behalf of very diverse SME clients, both large and small. However, my approach is pretty unambiguous: always with a lot of flexibility and fanaticism: if I have to, the teeth go in.”
“The strength of De Beer? For me, that’s the independence you experience as a partner or employee. The work has to be done well, but we give each other the space to flesh it out ourselves. If you perform well, there is plenty of room for growth, initiative and freedom. That makes for a pleasant atmosphere.”
Paul van Ierland
Paul van Ierland has lived in Tilburg all his life and is the father of three young children. He is a passionate chartered accountant and has been a partner at De Beer since 2020. Paul gets energy from working with colleagues and associates.
“I joined De Beer in 2009, in the compilation practice. I now manage the audit practice, a team with enthusiastic colleagues whom I enjoy helping in their development. From the audit practice we serve the larger clients of De Beer. These are mainly family businesses and non-profit organizations. With them I like to think along with them about the organization’s design, with attention to usefulness and practicality.”
“I am precise, calm and contemplative. Collaboration, both with clients and colleagues, is my second nature. Traits that I believe are useful in my work. A critical attitude is part of the profession, but I believe that can also be fine in a collaborative relationship. I always look for the story behind the numbers. I do that with great dedication and pleasure, which is also very much due to the pleasant, professional and informal atmosphere at De Beer.”
Frans van Baast
Frans van Baast from Haaren spends a lot of time on weekends as a supporter along the line at his children’s soccer and equestrian events. In between he will never skip his run over the nature reserve Kampina. In addition, he is an avid visitor to Willem II.
“In my work, I coach, train and support the employees of De Beer. I try to let their talents flourish, allowing them to work in their strengths. In fact, the same applies to our clients. I coach them in a broad field, so that they can be and remain successful. In doing so, I pay special attention to the people behind the business. I am their coach and also their supporter. Entrepreneurship is top sport, balancing on the edge of the impossible and experience shows that the entrepreneur needs a sounding board. I would like to be that sounding board.”
“My clients include a wide range of entrepreneurs in various industries, with De Beer’s agricultural clients being served by me and an agricultural team.”
Jan van der Laak
Jan van der Laak is a purebred Tilburger, living in neighboring Goirle. He has been involved with de Beer as a partner since 2008.
“Until 2008, I worked for two different, larger accounting firms. But I wanted to combine my work with entrepreneurship. That was possible at De Beer. That was immediately an excellent opportunity to return to my Tilburg roots. I enjoy working in my practice where I focus on the audit practice and the broad advisory practice.
A specialism is advising in governance (structures) in social and cultural organizations in particular.”
“In addition, I am (have been) active as a supervisory board member of companies and as a member of supervisory boards of social organizations and culture. Currently I am chairman of the Supervisory Board of Willem II.
I am characterized as involved, analytical and decisive and always strive for a high level of quality. I experience working for my clients as a top-class sport. In my spare time, I am an avid runner and cyclist.”
Who we are
Professional, passionate and working together in a personal way: that is the strength of De Beer. Our accounting and tax consultancy firm has been operating with this vision since 1952. Today, some 85 employees work from two offices for clients in the Netherlands and abroad.

The power of our people
At De Beer, we think employees are at least as important as clients. We combine professional challenge and passion for the profession with a personal working environment where it’s all about people.
Every employee makes his or her own valuable contribution. We encourage everyone to keep learning and developing. Our De Beer Academy invites professional deepening, talent growth and leadership development. But we also welcome training, education and professional meetings outside our own office walls.
As an employer, we consider it self-evident to monitor the work-life balance. We create the best work situation together. Because when you feel good about yourself, you perform better and get the best out of yourself and others. That makes everyone more powerful!
The power of our profession
Change is rapid in the digital world, also in our profession. In challenging times there are plenty of opportunities to use technology to automate routine work and provide up-to-date figures. We embrace these opportunities. Because it gives our advisors more scope to deepen personal relationships, to be a strategic sparring partner and to stand next to the client, looking to the future.
